Truck Tour started its journey in Strasbourg, France, on 25 April at the seat of the European Parliament. The opening ceremony was presented by Vladimir Špidla, the European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, and included among others the unveiling of the redesigned truck. Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) as well as pupils and students from France and Germany were invited to participate in the event. A scheduled panel discussion allowed the exchange of views between politicians and youth. Furthermore, the new permanent truck programme elements featured in the tour were presented to the audience for the first time.

• Welcome speeches by Commissioner Vladimir Špidla, EP Vice president Pierre Moscovici (ESP, France) and Martine Roure, (ESP, France) EP rapporteur for the 2007 European Year of Equal Opportunities for all
• Unveiling of the truck
• Presentation of the tour to 19 countries
• Cutting of the “truck cake” 
• Refreshments for the audience
